To help keep things straight, I always include the word вЂњkitвЂќ when talking about the SRT Kit. The Short Trigger and the Short Reach Trigger KitВ are totally unrelated, and you can have either installed in a gun without the other, or both, or neither. The вЂњSRTвЂќ abbreviation alwaysВ refers to theВ Short Reset Trigger Kit that modifies the reset action, regardless of whether the gun has the Standard, Short, or some aftermarket trigger. (from left to right) SIG Short Trigger, Grayguns P-SPIT, SIG Standard TriggerДЇor obvious reasons, the Short Reset Trigger Kit and Short Trigger often get mixed up in discussions,В andВ some owners incorrectlyВ refer to the Short Trigger as the вЂњShort Reach TriggerвЂќ or вЂњShort Reset Trigger,вЂќ and will sometimes incorrectly abbreviate it asВ вЂњSRT.вЂќ This is a mistake which only adds to the confusion. HereвЂ™s a photo of the SIG Short Trigger on the left, the Grayguns Intermediate Trigger in the middle, and the SIG Standard Trigger on the right: YouвЂ™ll also hear it referred to by SIG as the Reduced Reach Trigger.В I think thatвЂ™s a much more accurate name, but it never really seemed to catch on, and itвЂ™s mostly known as the вЂњShort Trigger.вЂќ The Short Trigger features a slimmer profile, whichВ shortens the distance your finger has to reach to pull the trigger, which is really helpful on that heavy double-actionВ shot. The вЂњSRTвЂќ confusion occurs because SIG Sauer also makes a Short Trigger.В The name itself is misleading, because the trigger isnвЂ™t actually вЂњshorterвЂќ than the standard SIG trigger.

SIGвЂ™s SRT KitВ also greatly reduces (but doesnвЂ™t quite eliminate) single-action вЂњtake-upвЂќ - the amount of movement between the triggerвЂ™s resting place in single-action mode and the вЂњwallвЂќ where the full amount of single-action trigger pull weight is required to releaseВ the hammer. Installing an SRT Kit in your SIGВ dramaticallyВ shortens the length of the pistolвЂ™s triggerвЂ™sВ reset, so following any shot,В your trigger finger only has to move forward a short distance to the reset positionВ before you can pull again for a follow-up shot.
